An agri-labourer by profession, Sukh Lal always had a keen interest in transforming his village of Tahtajpur into a better and sustainable one. He finally grabbed the opportunity by being the caretaker of the Grameen Haat, an innovative concept combining basic services like clean toilets and water for highway travelers with market linkages for local artisans and their handicrafts. The Grameen Haat is another CSR initiative by ITNL in support of the nearby MPowered villages. With the initial investment and support provided by ITNL and Mrida, the Grameen Haat will be fully managed by the Village Development Committee (VDC) and will become self-sustaining over time. Sukh Lal has helped to transform and advance the nearby villages while setting an example for others to follow in his footsteps.
